Renting a super villa with all the mod cons is no longer only limited to those with a big wad of cash in their pocket. Thanks to rental websites such as Airbnb and Homeaway, these amazing villa’s are now easily accessible to the rest of us ‘normal’ folk too!
Now admittedly the average Joe probably needs to group up with a few friends or family to be able to afford somewhere like this, but hey, that’s cool. In fact, that’s exactly what I did when I arranged a trip for 11 adults on behalf of my friend for her hen party.
I booked this stunning 400-year-old converted farmhouse in Burmarrad, just outside of St Paul’s Bay in Malta. The farmhouse consisted of 7 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a stunning outdoor swimming pool, an outdoor shower & WC block, a jacuzzi, inside and outside dining that seated sixteen people, and our own outdoor bar! It was fabulous!
The Villa was a beautiful mix of both old and new. The contrast of the light dusty stone bricks against the clean glass worked well and looked super sleek! The floor to ceiling glass allowed a vast amount of light to filter through on both the ground and the first floors, making the floor bright and airy.
Upon entering the villa, you’ll come straight into the lounge area, a spacious seating area with a sofa, arm chair, TV, and stereo system. But keep reading on. No-one comes to a super villa like this to sit indoors and watch telly!
Seven full size bedrooms can be found in the villa – all with proper beds, so no need to worry about bunk beds or pull out sofa beds! A double and twin bedroom were located on the ground floor, another double was located on the mid level, one double and two further twin rooms were located on the first floor. No super villa would be complete without it’s own special en-suite master bedroom. This room was located in it’s own tower block just across from the first floor. Sweet!
To accompany so many bedrooms, five bathrooms were scattered around the villa. Two on the lower level, two on first floor, and also that lovely en-suite bathroom in the master bedroom too!
The villa had a stunning kitchen area, along with three different dining areas – this large indoor dining table that seated up to sixteen guests, and a smaller six-seater dining table which was tucked away in it’s own corner. In addition to both those dining areas, there was also another fourteen seater dining table outdoors too!
Just behind the pool, an outdoor kitchen area was built beside the bar and dining area. This wasn’t a feature that I was looking for when choosing a villa, but actually in hindsight, I wish we had made proper use of the wood fired oven. Just think of the fresh pizza’s you could be eating alongside a nice cold glass of something from the bar 🙂
The most important part of any rental is going to be the pool. It MUST have a decent pool right? Well, this villa did not fail on that front, that’s for sure! The Pool was large, clean, and set within stunning countryside surroundings with nothing around you but grenery. There was also a separate pool house building, which included changing rooms, toilets, and outdoor showers to compliment the pool area too!
Quite often you’ll get a villa with as many beds as you need, but how often do you get not one, but two dining tables that comfortably seats sixteen guests? We loved the outdoor dining area, which was perfect for when our private chef came to the villa one night to cook us our own three-course dinner, as he could take over the kitchen without worrying about noise and mess whilst we were outside, out of his way.
Probably my favorite part of the villa was the outdoor bar and seating area – just look at it! We spent every evening here as a group, utilising the space, enjoying how peaceful it was, and of course making the most of the bar (which had a handy fridge tucked underneath). There was a decent sized supermarket just around the corner from the villa, so we were able to stock up our bar with drinks and nibbles!
A jacuzzi was located inside the villa, however we didn’t get a chance to use it as it was broken due to a lack of hot water which was a shame. Not the end of the world though. If you are renting anywhere with a hot tub or jacuzzi, make sure you check they are in full working order beforehand to avoid any disappointment!
Travelling with kids? No worries! Let them loose in their very own playroom where there were a handful of toys available. Let them go crazy, make a mess, and make as much noise as they like! A villa like this would be ideal for a large family or perhaps a group of friends with children, so having a playroom was a brilliant idea.
And if that wasn’t enough, then check out all this space! As if there wasn’t enough land surrounding the villa, the was an additional open grassy area, perfect for football or some morning yoga. It was perfectly peaceful here, so don’t expect to hear anything other than your friends or family splashing around the pool.
Love the look of this villa? Fancy checking into somewhere as lovely as this? Why not grab some friends and arrange a group holiday in that case? Treating yourself to a villa like this could be the perfect thing for 2018 and you!
